’Tis the season… If you’re looking for a few decor ideas to spruce up your home for the holidays, we’ve got you covered! Here are some simple ways to add a bit of festive flair:
1. Jingle bells
Get some ribbon and tie a few large silver bells to your front doorknob, or hang them as an alternative to a traditional wreath. It’s a great way to greet holiday guests – and you’ll hear the jingle of bells whenever anyone comes to visit! Don’t forget to add a pretty bow with the ribbon as well.
2. Bowl of ornaments
Colorful glass ornaments aren’t just for the tree – you can evoke a traditional bowl of fruit by using ornaments instead! Simply collect a bunch in whatever color scheme you like best (gold, red, and green are great) and arrange them in a decorative bowl. Add some foliage for an extra festive touch.
3. Green garlands
Garlands of green foliage are available at craft and hobby stores, and can be completely personalized to your taste. Wrap banisters and handrails in greenery, festoon the mantle above the fireplace, or hang some above your front door. The best part is you can add strands of lights, small ornaments, ribbons, and even candy canes to the garland to make it your own!
4. Candlelight glow
Add a beautiful glow of light on a side table, mantlepiece, or dining room table by gathering different-sized frosted-glass vases and votive holders and placing a tealight inside. You can create this display very inexpensively by using items from a dollar store – and consider using battery-operated tealights for safety, especially if children are around.
With just a few simple touches, your home will look that much more festive for the holidays… and then you can sit back, put your feet up, and enjoy a mug of hot chocolate as you count down the days!
